The Leaky Bucket: What?s Wrong with Your Fundraising and How You Can Fix It (In the Trenches) Reviews
The Leaky Bucket by Ellen Bristol explains--finally--what makes typical fundraising organizations so unproductive. She translates the tools, procedures and practices used by successful sales and marketing professionals to the challenges of the nonprofit world so we can work smarter, not harder.
I'm so impressed by Ellen's elaborate research into how non-profits can plug the holes in their "leaky bucket." She's provided information and statistics only a true expert could put together. As a young person who specializes in the art of creating marketing videos for non-profits, I appreciate the wisdom and perspective this book provides. I'm going to use it as ammunition in my own speaking engagements to organizations like the Association of Fundraising Professionals. So much is changing in the field, and Ellen shows how to ride the new wave to more effective fundraising. Thanks to this book, more non-profits will make more money...and the more money non-profits raise, the better this world will become. My hats off... Jessica
If you serve on the board of a nonprofit or are the executive director or development officer, this book, The Leaky Bucket is a MUST READ. Ellen Bristol, aided by Linda Lysankowski, tell it like it is with their subtitle, What's Wrong with Your Fundraising and How You Can Fix It. Ellen has a strong reputation working with a wide variety of nonprofits and has discovered how to turn her background as a sales professional to use for developing success and sustainable fundraising for any group. Her practical, experience-based advice will go a long way in getting your group moving in the right direction and getting results that keep you alive and thriving. In today's tough economy, that's no easy job. If you've ever struggled to keep your cause and organization viable, if you want to get beyond the "bake sale" world, if you see grants and public money disappearing, you must read this book and apply Bristol's wisdom.
The Leaky Bucket: What’s Wrong with Your Fundraising and How You Can Fix It could easily serve as a textbook for a course in the fundamentals of fundraising. Ellen Bristol and Linda Lysakowski have written a great guide for fundraisers at all levels, from newcomers to seasoned professionals.
